TJ Puls, PhD
VP Technology

TJ is a purpose-driven biomedical engineer with over 10 years of experience in biomedical research, tissue engineering, process development, and cross-functional technical leadership. He is currently the VP of Technology at GeniPhys where he serves as the technical lead on commercialization efforts for GeniPhys’ natural collagen polymer platform. Being GeniPhys' first employee, he helped lead all product development activities leading to 510(k) clearance for our first product, Collymer SAS. His efforts included performing customer discovery and prototype development, spearheading the establishment and implementation of GeniPhys' quality systems, managing the design controls process, helping author and manage FDA submissions, and transitioning to cGMP manufacturing. As principal investigator and entrepreneurial lead for GeniPhys’ NSF SBIR and I‑Corps programs, TJ has helped secure over $1.5 million in federal funding and driven both technical innovation and commercialization strategy. His work has resulted in multiple patent filings and a strong publication record spanning cancer research, collagen biomaterials, and regenerative medicine. TJ holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University. He is passionate about continuous learning and developing innovative therapeutic technologies to meaningfully impact people’s lives with his career. Outside of work TJ loves spending time with his family, hiking, camping, reading, and cooking.
