Kent Abernathy
President & CEO

Kent is an experienced leader with a distinguished career spanning the military, public service, and private sectors.
Following graduation from the United States Military Academy, he served an initial tour in the US Army, including assignments in Korea and with the 82nd Airborne Division.
After transitioning to civilian life, Kent spent more than 15 years in the private sector as a commercial banker in New York and Indiana, specializing in structuring complex financial transactions and coordinating all aspects of corporate banking relationships across diverse industries. He later founded Eagle Advisors, LLC, providing strategic planning guidance and arranging senior debt and private equity financing for client companies.
During his civilian career, Kent maintained his commitment to military service through roles in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard, holding command positions at the company, battalion, and brigade levels.  Following the events of 9/11, he volunteered to return to active duty, serving in leadership roles at the Pentagon and during deployment to Iraq. He retired from the military as a Colonel.
Returning to Indiana, Kent held senior leadership roles under three governors, serving as Commissioner of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Commissioner of the Department of Transportation. At the federal level, he served as Executive Director of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service, a bipartisan commission established by Congress to review the Selective Service system and promote national service.
Kent has served on numerous boards and commissions throughout his career.  In addition to his role at GeniPhys, he currently serves as President-Emeritus of the Indiana War Memorials Foundation, where he supports museums, memorials, and parks dedicated to honoring Indiana veterans.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from West Point, a Master of Management from Oakland City University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
